Who should go: landscape and nature photographers who wish to use their images to tell stories
Tanzania has everything you could possibly want if you are an avid photographer of nature, wildlife, people, and even the night sky. But there’s a lot more for photographers to appreciate here. The adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” truly applies here, and this is where the magic of photography is revealed: the attempt to capture a single moment that conveys an entire narrative. This is the unique quality of Tanzania. The distinct
cultures, predator-prey relationships, and striking landscapes all come together to provide for the ideal narrative image. Our private vehicles and guides will be appreciated by those who would want to wait for these ideal moments without worrying about other vehicle companions.
Where to go and two suggestions for Tanzania’s wildlife & landscape photography
Some national parks are easier to compose excellent images in than others. We therefore provide two pieces of advice for successful Tanzania photo safaris: where to go and when. First off, during the dry season, head to the Southern or Western Circuit for wildlife photography. Because they gather around water sources, wildlife is easier to see. Photos with less people in them are less likely to be cluttered by people. Second, go to the Northern Circuit during or after the wet seasons if you want to take landscape photos. Beautiful cloud formations, budding wildflowers, and verdant growth contrast well with the blue expanse of the sky, mountains, volcanic craters, and savannahs peppered with acacia trees. The air is free of dust.
When to leave
While landscape photography is most effective during or after the rainy season, animal photography is best enjoyed during the dry season. The clear dry season is the best time for anyone who wants to take night sky photos. We advise staying away from the busiest parks during the busiest travel periods. Visit specialized parks or go during shoulder and low season instead. Animal sightings will be just as thrilling without people or cars interfering with your ideal shot.
You choose what to photograph, when to take it, where to take it, and whether or not to wait all day for the ideal shot when on a private photo safari in Tanzania. We assist you in organizing every aspect and offer you a customized 4×4 and knowledgeable guides who will ensure you get at the appropriate location on time.
Things to see in Tanzania during photo safaris
Photography of landscapes
Tanzania is home to breathtakingly gorgeous scenery. Ol Doinyo Lengai’s towering volcano
and the crimson Lake Natron provide stunning scenery for landscape photographers. The largest intact caldera in the world, Ngorongoro Crater, Mkomazi National Park’s breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Ruaha National Park’s enormous and enigmatic baobab trees, Kilimanjaro National Park’s five distinct vegetative zones, and Saadani National Park, where the savannah meets the beach, all have similar qualities.
Photographing Wildlife
In the Southern Circuit’s Ruaha National Park and Nyerere National Park & Selous Game Reserve, you can capture outstanding wildlife photographs with less visitors. They create a massive ecosystem that is home to a great variety of species, including the Big Five. You can get up close and personal with chimpanzees and other monkeys at Gombe Stream National Park.
Bird Photography:
On the pristine beaches of Lake Tanganyika, Mahale Mountains National Park and Tarangire National Park provide excellent opportunities for bird photography during the dry season.
Cityscape Photography
Tanzania’s history is complicated because of the trade in spices, ivory, and enslaved people. Remains of this past can be found all over Stone Town in Zanzibar. Amazing cityscape photography is produced by the contrast between the rich colors of Zanzibar is’ clothes and the warm light cast on distinctive stone buildings with Islamic influences.
Tanzanian photographic safari equipment and facilities
the appropriate vehicle is essential for a private guided photographic safari. We have roof hatches on ours that let you walk through the roof. You never miss a moment when there’s nothing to block your view, much like a cheetah on a hunt. Our cars are equipped with USB ports so that extra batteries can be charged.
With years of experience, our guides are very knowledgeable on when and where to enter the proper locations. They can assist you in finding the species on your bucket list because they have extensive knowledge of the parks.
A safari is famous for being dusty. To prevent switching lenses, we advise packing multiple camera bodies and use dry bags to protect delicate equipment from dust.
How to arrange a safari for photography
The best time to take amazing animal photos is from the ground, however this is obviously not a safe option. Still, it is feasible if you select:
accommodations with hides for photography. Located next to rivers and waterholes, these locations provide excellent opportunities for up-close wildlife photography when animals come to drink.
The greatest time to take ground-level photos is during a guided walking safari. Take note of the small details, such the dung beetle rolling a ball of dung in the foreground and the hazy zebras in the background.
A thrilling river wildlife picture safari with a guide. The ideal location for this is Nyerere National Park. When on a boat safari at Saadani National Park, you can photograph how the beach changes to open plains and subsequently mangroves.
